Spring Time Wedding Inspiration

25 Feb

I must admit, even though this winter was extremely mild over here in western Washington I am SO ready for Spring!  The Crocus are in bloom all over our property, the sun is out every few days (followed by nasty rain storms), and the Spring-time wedding inspiration is hitting the blog and design world with a frenzy!  I am so in need of the warmth, color, and happiness of Spring; not just outside but also in terms of design.

Just saw this fabulous wedding picture over on Style Me Pretty’s blog, taken by Green Apple Photography, and I had to post it here for all of you to see!

I love this photo on so many levels.

Visually- it just pops, with the bright colors and white tops pulling out the bride’s wedding dress.

Then, notice the shoes- all different & fun!

The skirts- they are an absolutely adorable style idea for bridesmaids!  Not to mention, the skirts are all just a teeny bit different from each other, which I think just adds visual interest while keeping the cohesiveness.

The cardigans?  Again, what a fabulous style idea for bridesmaids and a bold show of the growing aversion to the “typical” bridesmaid dress.

Last, the flowers- they pull the colors from the skirts & shoes so perfectly and are just pleasing to the eye.

This picture puts a big smile on my face and this bride makes me think Spring!  Happy thoughts.  It’s coming!

Turkey time- but not as in food…

12 Nov

I think you will be pleasantly surprised to hear Turkey has MORE ruins to see than Greece!  I know…who knew?  Not us!

In 08, we went to Turkey to shoot video & stills for a Ya’lla Tours marketing DVD- later titled “The Footsteps of Paul.”  This was going to be a DVD for Ya’lla to hand out to Church groups, etc.

After being to Greece, we were just absolutely blown away as to how much more there was to see in Turkey, in terms of amazing ruins.  WOW.  If you didn’t know, Turkey used to be Greece, hence, tons of ancient Greek cities and ruins are there (in what is now Turkey).

My favorite site was Ephesus, an ancient Greek city.  In the 1st century BC, Ephesus had a population of over 250,000 people (it was the second largest city in the world at the time!) and MANY of its sites are still standing!!  There were several amphitheaters, shops, bathrooms!, an absolutely stunning library, temples, and more to see at Ephesus.  Seriously amazing.

Here is a picture of the Library in Ephesus- my favorite, favorite, most favoritest ancient ruin everrr:

And more pictures to satisfy your fancy-

Greece Photo Shoot

3 Nov

As promised: pictures from our Greece trip in ’08 for our client, Ya’lla Tours.  Just a few of my favorites this time.

Egypt photo shoot

1 Nov

We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work for a tour company, Ya’lla, on numerous occasions.  We shoot video and still pictures of the tour groups, buses, and all sites for Ya’lla to use in their marketing materials.  With the video, we edit it and make a marketing DVD, and duplicate 1000’s of that DVD, which Ya’lla uses to mail out as samples for prospective interested travelers.

Ya’lla Tours, owned by our client and now good friend, Ronen Paldi has got to be one of THE best companies to travel with if you’re looking to do a group tour.

Ronen’s tour guides in each location are top-notch, well-educated, and well-spoken.  Not to mention, Ya’lla’s tours are planned with some of the best hotel accommodations, food, and site-seeing around.  Unfortunately for those of us at Lifework Media, we’ll never travel so well again.  How will we ever have a great vacation without comparing it to the fabulous hotel rooms and food from Ya’lla’s tours!!?  🙂

On top of it all, Ronen is quite a kick to spend time with.  Born and raised in Israel, he is definitely unique and entertaining!

Now, I am most certainly NOT the type of person to want to do a tour when I travel.  I just want to be able to do and go where I want, when I want…and I don’t always want to have to be cheery and talkative.  Sometimes I’m inquisitive when I travel.  Other times I just want to watch everything else.  Usually, I want to take a million photographs, and do it without people getting in the frame.

When I first went on one of Ya’lla’s tours to shoot, I was quite anxious over the nerdiness of traveling with tourists on a bus and being those “flashy Americans.”  I soon got over that, because traveling with a tour group is absolutely AWESOME!  We’ve ended each trip with a bunch of new friends throughout the United States, and that more than anything, is the most rewarding part of the job.  If you haven’t tried a tour when you’ve traveled, give it a shot!  And you should use Ya’lla when you do!

1- you never have to worry about where you’re going next

2- you never have to worry about how you’re going to get there, navigate small roads or maps, or buy tickets

3- you don’t have to read!!!  The tour guide has all of the knowledge you’d ever need, so you can learn about what you’re seeing without getting sick by reading in the car on the way!

4- you never have to worry about missing an important site or thing to see (it’s hard when traveling to an unknown location to sift through the books and figure out the best and most worthy places to see in the short amount of time you have.)  We’ve done that plenty of times and it’s not fun!  Especially when you get home and realize you went to a tacky tourist trap but missed an important site.  Eeek!
Long story short, here are some of my favorite photographs I took while in Egypt.  I’ll be posting ones from when we traveled to Turkey and Greece with Ya’lla as well, so check back!

Head Shots

31 Oct

Paige loved the photos we took of her family so much that she wanted some more!  This time we took portrait-shots of her to surprise her husband, Lance, with a bunch framed for Christmas!

She is the world’s most perfect model to shoot!  Not only is she gorgeous, with her high cheek bones and unique look, but she was very comfortable in front of the camera and very still when I needed her to be.

This one is my favorite one from the shoot:

Here are the rest of my favorites.  You can click on them to see them full-size.
